The matchup, which will feature on the main card of the event at Madison Square Garden on November 15, will see Edwards look to bounce back from the first back-to-back losses of his 28-fight MMA career.
Edwards captured the undisputed welterweight title in spectacular fashion with a last-gasp head-kick knockout of long-reigning champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City, then cemented his place at the top of the division with a majority decision win over Usman in the rematch at UFC 286 in London.
Another title defence followed as he outclassed Colby Covington at UFC 296, but his reign was cut short when, fighting on home soil in Manchester, England, he was outworked by Belal Muhammad at UFC 304.

Edwards looked to bounce back at UFC London in March, but was finished for the first time in his career by Sean Brady, who dominated the bout through three rounds, then submitted Edwards in the fourth.
Now Edwards is ready to return again, and will look to return to winning ways when he takes on fellow striker Prates, who rebounded from his decision loss to Ian Machado Garry in April with a stunning spinning back elbow knockout of Geoff Neal at UFC 319 earlier this month in Chicago.
The Fighting Nerds product has finished all five of his UFC wins by knockout, and will look to add Edwards’ name to his list of KO victims when they meet at Madison Square Garden on November 15.
