The reigning divisional king will meet interim titleholder Masaaki Noiri in a ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title unification bout in the main event of the Sunday, 16th November, show inside Tokyo, Japan’s Ariake Arena.
Superbon regained the kickboxing crown after impressively dispatching old foe Marat Grigorian at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April 2024. He then challenged featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai for his crown this past January at ONE 170, but lost in the second round via a devastating knockout.
Now that he’s back in his preferred discipline, the 34-year-old is eager to put that defeat behind him, cement himself as one of the world’s best strikers, and start working his way back towards a bid to become a two-sport ONE World Champion.
“This fight is going to prove again that I am a top-level fighter,” Superbon said.
“It’s very important for me to win and still be the champion. I want to go back to the rematch with Tawanchai – I cannot lose this fight.”
Superbon has a lot of respect for his upcoming challenger.
Noiri sent Saitama Super Arena into a frenzy this past March at ONE 172, when he shocked the world by finishing Tawanchai with a whopping left hook to claim the interim featherweight kickboxing crown.
Superbon views the Japanese star as a much tougher opponent in the big gloves, given his pedigree as a two-division champion in K-1.
However, the seasoned veteran is confident that he can outsmart him in Tokyo and prove to the world that he’s still the top dog in the yard.
“I think Noiri has a lot more experience than Tawanchai in kickboxing, but against me it’s different,” Superbon added.
“I have a lot of experience. I am the best at kickboxing. I will [still] be the best.”
