Ryan Garcia is a relentless and immaculate fighter. His fight mindset of quick thinking, reacting and responding with high octane power can bring down even the toughest of obstacles. The 23 year old has been fighting since his early teens and has a 23-0 record that could shake most fighters out of their boots. Some fighters may think that he will fall to their pressure but they haven’t seen what King Ryan’s reign is like.
Golden Boy’s DAZN show on Saturday, July the 16th, headlined by Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna took place in the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California, U.S. with a fantastic showing.
His opponent Javier Fortuna had strong endurance and showed signs of skill to withstand the onslaught that came his way. Ryan displayed his lightning movement in swift action finishing the match in 6 rounds with a clear four round lead. However, this isn’t anywhere near the first time Ryan has entered a ring and done nothing but impress his country and the world.
Every subsequent match this young man has fought, he has returned looking more powerful, more agile, quicker reactions and sealing holes in his defense. Has he reached untouchable status in the lightweight or super lightweight divisions? Time has already begun etching his legacy.

Ryan Garcia Vs Javier Fortuna, The Boxing Fight Recap:
Round 1: Ryan Garcia starts off strong with a series of left jabs and left hooks into the gut of Fortuna. He kept pressing Javier, disabling his attacks in a major way.
Garcia connected with a series of right hand straights and finally Fortuna reciprocated the pressure towards Garcia making him back up towards a corner who uses a clinch to hold out. Both fighters seemed to be gauging each other, with success more in favor of Garcia.
Round 2: Fortuna takes a significant shot within the early moments to the head of Garcia. Garcia seems to be approaching a more aggressive Javier who seems more comfortable.
He stays in pursuit and the round finishes with a clinch. Garcia manages to connect with an effective combination however both fighters seemed to be killing the minutes till the bell rang.
Round 3: Garcia seemed to be bidding his time for more dangerous attacks trying to catch his opponent off guard. He lands an overhand left hook but doesn’t make a solid connection. Javier had multiple opportunities to counter but the aggression seems to be getting the better of him.
Fortuna seems to be waiting for clear openings where the strikes could count for the most. Garcia keeps changing directions and landing with effective blows to the body. However, it was a slower round than prior as Javier seems to have lost his steam. Despite having brilliant endurance for taking on so much fierceness.
Round 4: Ryan scores a knock down with an excruciating left hook to Javier. Follows up with multiple right hands and Fortuna’s mouth guard drops out. He gets a few seconds of reprieve and recovers only barely as the guard gets cleaned.
It seems clear here that Garcia is far in the lead from both points and skill. Fortuna is avoiding engagement and is doing his best to survive the round from the onslaught coming his way. He seems to be rocked as he returns to the corner.
Round 5: Garcia is continually pressuring Javier without any response from his opponent. He scores another knock down towards the end of the round with an explosive left hook to the head of Fortuna.
Fortuna is saved by the bell barely reacting to the adversity coming his way. His reactions at this stage are too slow and too rocked to find steady footing. Ryan seems unfazed and keeps the pressure on Javier who is only maintaining defense.
Round 6: Ryan Garcia knocks out Javier Fortuna with a powerful yet agile three punch combo in the first 30 seconds. Referee Jerry Cantu counts down Fortuna as he gets rid of his mouthpiece on a knee. Garcia showcases his sportsmanship picking Javier up and having a close conversation after the match is called. Garcia remains undefeated.

Ryan had some inspiring things to say in the post match interview, praising God, his skill set and wisdom. He shed some light on certain moments in the fight and most importantly called out Gervonta Tank Davis. Gervonta has an equally exceptional record at the age of 27 with 27-0 and this match seems like it could be wildfire.
Here’s what Garcia had to say. In the post match interview, Ryan responded to Chris Mannix saying: “I’m going to leave that(whether the win was a statement or not) to the people but I know that I performed well for myself, I was crisp, I was sharp and I stayed in my truth. I didn’t do anything crazy, I know how good of a fighter I am. I just had to put it all together and you’ve seen that come together today.”
He went on to say: “I’m not going back down to 135(lightweight) but I will fight Tank next. If Tank wants that at 140.” (He grins while saying) “I’m gonna record all the negotiations so you guys don’t make any headlines saying he’s (himself) ducking. If he wants it. let’s get it”…. “That’s gonna give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid. I’m trying to tell you a spirit of competition in me and you’re gonna see that come out when I fight Tank.”

Saturday’s call out seems like a done deal. Although both fighters have been speculating about this fight for a while now. Especially with Gervonta ominously tweeting out a reply: “ See y’all at the end of the year..#TheONE”.
As a backup plan if Gervonta doesn’t take the fight Ryan said: “if for some reason, which I really see very unlikely, but if the fight with ‘Tank’ can’t happen, then I want to fight Teofimo Lopez at 140 pounds“, RDX predicts a great future for the unhindered King and wishes him God’s wisdom and strength again for the next one.
