The seaside resort town of Jesolo is playing host to the WAKO Italian Kickboxing World Cup, where a packed field of athletes are battling it out for championship glory in Venice, Italy.
The tournament, which is taking place at the futuristic PalaInvent at Jesolo’s Palazzo del Turismo, will see 2,500 kickboxers, representing 46 nations, step through the ropes to fight it out for victory.
The action gets underway today, with the first set of qualification rounds and finals set to take place throughout the afternoon and evening.
The bouts will continue throughout the remainder of the week, with action set to take place across full contact, light contact, “kick light” and children’s categories. There will also be a demonstration of parakickboxing during Saturday’s programme of events, with a parakickboxing competition held on the Sunday.

The action culminates in Sunday’s finals, where a “Grand Champion” will be crowned in the junior and senior categories in the Italian Open, while those still in action in the light contact and “kick light” tournaments will contest the final stages of their respective tournaments to crown champions in each category.
