“The Black Beast” faced hyped prospect Tallison Teixeira, whose 35-second knockout of Justin Tafa earned him a ranked spot after his UFC debut, as well a main event meeting with Lewis in Tennessee.
Ahead of fight night, Lewis insisted that the chance had come too soon for the Brazilian knockout artist, and that he’d prove exactly why on fight night.
And, when the action got underway at the Bridgestone Arena, that’s exactly what happened, as Lewis notched his 16th UFC knockout to extend his record for the most KOs in UFC history. And, as if to add more weight to his pre-fight statement, he did so in exactly the same time it took Teixeira to defeat Tafa – 35 seconds.

On this week’s episode of the RDX Sports Podcast, RDX Sports’ editor-in-chief Simon Head takes a look back at fight night as he delivers the last word on UFC Nashville, before taking a look ahead to UFC 318, where Dustin Poirier will bring the curtain down on his surefire UFC Hall of Fame career when he challenges former featherweight champion Max Holloway for the BMF title in what will be “The Diamond’s” final fight before retirement.
It’s a fight that sees Poirier come home to Louisiana for the last fight of his career as he bids to go out on a high by securing a hat-trick of victories over fellow fan favourite Holloway and riding off into the sunset with the BMF belt over his shoulder.
