The Bellator Champions Series has been rebranded as the PFL Road to Dubai Champions Series, with the first event of the new brand set to feature a battle for the Bellator lightweight title.

Reigning 155-pound champion Usman Nurmagomedov will put his title on the line in the main event of the evening at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on Saturday, January 25, as he faces Irish challenger, Paul Hughes.

The co-main event will also feature a familiar face to Bellator viewers, Russia’s former light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov, who will look to continue his successful transition to the heavyweight division when he faces former title challenger Tim Johnson.

The rebrand is a result of the PFL’s multi-year partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and the Dubai Sports Council, though it remains to be seen what will happen with the Bellator titles, including the title Nurmagomedov will look to defend in the main event on January 25.
