The contest pairs two finishers looking to establish themselves in ONE Championship’s competitive flyweight division. Miado brings a successful weight class transition into the matchup, while Kholmirzaev enters off a first-round submission victory in his U.S. primetime debut.
Miado earned a unanimous decision over Gilbert Nakatani at ONE Fight Night 28 in February, his first fight after moving up from strawweight to flyweight. The 32-year-old Filipino has compiled six stoppage victories in his career, establishing his reputation as a technical striker with finishing ability.
The weight class change has provided Miado with improved performance metrics after several years competing at strawweight. His striking output and speed remained effective against Nakatani across three rounds, demonstrating that his skill set translates successfully to the heavier division.
Kholmirzaev earned his ONE Championship contract through consistent performances in the ONE Friday Fights series. The 24-year-old opened his promotional run with three consecutive finishes before absorbing his first setback in September 2024.
He responded with three stoppage victories and earned a decision win over former two-time DEEP flyweight champion Tatsumitsu Wada in July. The performance secured Kholmirzaev a six-figure contract and promotion to ONE Championship’s global roster.
In his most recent appearance at ONE Fight Night 37 earlier this month, Kholmirzaev submitted previously undefeated Willie van Rooyen with an armbar at 3:52 of the first round. The victory improved his record to 14-2 with 13 finishes, a 93 percent finishing rate that ranks among the flyweight division’s highest.
The matchup presents contrasting career trajectories. Miado seeks to build momentum following his successful weight class adjustment, while Kholmirzaev aims to continue his rapid ascent through the flyweight rankings after earning his spot on the global roster.
Both athletes have demonstrated finishing ability throughout their careers, with Miado’s striking complementing Kholmirzaev’s submission skills.
The December 5 contest will test whether Miado’s experience at flyweight can neutralize Kholmirzaev’s momentum, or if the Uzbek’s finishing rate continues against a veteran opponent.
