The two national MMA heroes stand at one win apiece in their fighting rivalry, with Saturday night’s event at Prague’s 25,000-capacity Eden Stadium set to bring a close to their rivalry, as well as their respective careers.
Such is their standing in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, OKTAGON MMA has even commissioned a special belt for the occasion, with the winner taking home OKTAGON’s one-of-one “Infinity Belt”.
Before the pair throw leather for the final time, they took to the scale at the official weigh-ins in Prague, with both men arriving in prime condition for their light heavyweight clash. Vemola tipped the scale at 93kg, while Vegh arrived slightly lighter, at 92.45kg.
The night will also crown a new interim middleweight champion, as Uzbekistan’s former UFC contender Makhmud Muradov taking on ex-champion and former OKTAGON MMA pound-for-pound number one Patrik Kincl.
Kincl lost his title to Kerim Engizek, who went on to compete in the middleweight Tipsport Gamechanger tournament. So, with the championship currently out of circulation due to Engizek’s tournament participation, the promotion has decided to introduce an interim belt, with Muradov and Kincl both arriving on weight ahead of their title tussle on Saturday night.
The main card also features a lightweight battle between Slovakian fan-favorite Ivan Buchinger and Czech striking ace Vladimir Lengal, while the winner of the inaugural Tipsport Gamechanger tournament, Bojan Velickovic, takes on former lightweight champion Ronald Paradeiser in a welterweight bout.
