The 23-year-old locks horns with #5-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender and fellow global roster contract winner Nakrob Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 32 on Saturday, 7th June, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, with their much-anticipated battle set to be broadcast around the world via streaming giant Prime Video.
With three knockouts in his last four wins, Jaosuayai is full of confidence, and he knows a win over his Thai compatriot will send shockwaves around the division.
“Nakrob is definitely a challenge. He’s had a lot of fights in ONE and is currently ranked, which I think is good. If I can beat him, I’ll elevate myself to the next level and maybe even get into the rankings,” he said.
“I’ve set a goal to win by knockout in my U.S. primetime debut because I want to start my journey with the most impressive performance.”
What makes the duo’s showdown so intriguing is their contrasting styles. Nakrob is well known for his pressing nature. It has allowed him to win 10 of his 12 bouts in ONE Championship and see off stars like Muangthai PK Saenchai, Tagir Khalilov, and Dedduanglek Wankhongohm MBK.
But Jaosuayai believes that plays into his hands. The Sor Dechapan gunslinger prefers to fight on the back foot and bait his adversaries into lethal counterstrikes.
He plans to utilize that approach at ONE Fight Night 32. That said, the flyweight striker is also open to standing and banging with Nakrob should that play out.
“Nakrob’s strength is his high stamina and good attacking ability, but his weakness is that he tends to come straight in, which is predictable, and he neglects his defense,” Jaosuayai revealed.
“My game plan for this fight is to wait for him to come in and counter accurately, but I’m not afraid to trade with him. However, I won’t trade continuously. I’ll use a stick-and-move strategy.”
