In a recent interview, the retired UFC superstar, St-Pierre said that he doesn’t watch many fights anymore but he’s excited about this one.
“I don’t watch fights as much as I did before, but this is going to be one that I’m going to tune into,” said St-Pierre. “What makes it interesting is the character of these fighters.”
“I think just it’s sad to see a guy like him waste his best years,” St-Pierre said of Diaz. “Stylistically it would have been a nightmare for a guy like Tyron Woodley.”

The 36-year-old, Diaz was slated for a comeback at UFC 235 in March against Jorge Masvidal, but the fight never pushed through.
However, St-Pierre believes Diaz could have a lot left in him.
“He’s one of the best fighters that I fought. Who knows, maybe his best years are to come.”
Diaz (26-9, 2 NC) was last seen in action at UFC 183 in 2015, where he lost to Anderson Silva via decision. Any possible comeback would first require him to enroll in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) program since he was then slapped with a lengthy suspension due to a positive drug test for marijuana metabolites.
