Liddard has exuded confidence during fight week ahead of his twin title tilt in Friday night’s main event at York Hall, Bethnal Green, and he said that, while his opponent has operated in higher company so far, he’s ready to prove that he’s a cut above when they meet in their title tussle this weekend.
“Listen, he’s been in with some good, good fighters, you know, and all he’s got is that he’s had more fights. But he’s older than me. He’s had more opportunity to,” he told IFL TV.
“I’m not there yet, but this is my time to prove now that experience is important, but when it comes to this game, there’s levels, and I just believe I’m that level better.”
Liddard is the younger, less-experienced fighter in the matchup, but the 23-year-old from Billericay, Essex, has put himself on the fast track to the top.
After turning making his pro debut in November 2022 and racing to a 5-0 record by the end of 2023, Liddard hit the accelerator on his career. In a busy 2024, he added five more wins to take his record into double figures.
Then, a unanimous decision victory over Derrick Osazeand a fifth-round TKO of Aaron Sutton put him on collision course with Conway. Now standing with a record of 12-0, with seven knockouts, Liddard says he’s surpassed the label of prospect and is now a legitimate contender at 160 pounds.
“Listen, I’m a challenger now. There’s no prospect (tag) now, and Friday night, I’ll become a champion,” he said.
“I’ve moved quick in my career. But that’s because I put myself in that position. You know, he wants to talk about, I’ve not boxed good opposition. I’ve boxed anyone that’s been put to me. And every time, I’ve stepped up.
“I won a Commonwealth silver. I won the British title eliminator. I’ll fight any man. This is the next step for me, and I’ll prove that Friday night. Can he deal with a young, hungry lion in front of him with 12 rounds? We will find out.”

Whether he’s working out ahead of the fight, or doing interviews in front of the cameras, Liddard looks to be in his element, and he plans on delivering the biggest performance of his career to date as he looks to extend his perfect professional record to 13-0 by dethroning Conway, who has more than twice the experience in the pro ranks.
“I genuinely believe I’ll be the first man to stop him,” he predicted.
“I’ve seen it. I’ve seen it written. This is for me. I was destined for this. I was destined to achieve big things. And listen, for me, if I don’t get the knockout, I don’t get the knockout. Win, by any means. As long as those belts come back to Billericay, that’s all that matters.”
