Italian lightweight Daniele Scatizzi stepped into the main event spotlight and delivered the goods for his home fans as he sent the Italian fans happy after a show-stopping win in the main event in Rome.

Scatizzi’s bout with Adrian Kepa was originally scheduled to be the co-main event at Cage Warriors 195, with middleweight champion Dario Bellandi set to take on Claudio Ribeiro in a title fight in the headliner. But after Ribeiro missed championship weight, the bout was removed from the fight card and Scatizzi-Kepa was promoted to the top spot on the card.

It meant Scatizzi had the additional responsibility of closing the show with a home win, and he did exactly that as he locked up an anaconda choke during the second round to secure the win and put the seal on a great night for Italian MMA at Palapellicone.

In the replacement co-main event, bantamweight Francesco Nuzzi claimed a career-best victory with a first-round TKO finish of Lucas Rodrigues as he made a dream start to life on the Cage Warriors roster.

Also on the main card, Nicolo Solli edged Daniel Carlson in an exciting three-round battle that went to the scorecard, while Chiara Penco win the battle of Italian women’s MMA stars as she defeted Fabiola Pidroni by unanimous decision.

There were also eye-catching victories for Luca Borando and Nicolas Barna. Italy’s Borando claimed one of the best KO finishes of the year with his knockout of Tariel Abbasov, while Uruguay’s Barna battled back from early adversity to defeat Italian favourite Simone D’Anna.
