Cage Warriors 192 will mark the first fight for Haque since July 2023, with two planned matchups with Nicolas Leblond falling through due to circumstances outside of the champion’s control.
But now “Superman” is back, and he’ll put his title on the line against 7-1 contender Jawany Scott, who has registered five straight wins since Haque’s last title fight.
Scott claimed his third pro win with victory over Ubay Gonzales at BRAVE CF 75 before signing with Cage Warriors in 2024 and reeling off four consecutive victories.
Jean Matos was dispatched via second-round rear-naked choke at Cage Warriors 169 before Scott claimed back-to-back decision wins over Ger Harris and Davide Scarano. Most recently, Scott stopped Jonny Touma with strikes in the second round at Cage Warriors 186 to put himself in the frame for a shot at the 125-pound title.
But he’ll face a significant step up in quality and experience when he takes on Haque, who has 21 pro fights to his name. Haque captured the flyweight title with a third-round finish of former champ Sam Creasey at Cage Warriors 148 in December of 2022 and registered his first defence of the title with a unanimous decision win over Italy’s Michele Martignoni at Cage Warriors 158.
Now, after a period of time away from the cage, Haque is ready to put his title on the line again as he bids to register his second title defence.
“We’re kicking off some big fight announcements for London with a title bout the fans have been asking for!” said Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan.
“Shaj Haque has forged a reputation as one of the most technically sound flyweights on the European circuit, but he’s going to have his hands full with Jawany, who’s been one of the most active athletes on our roster in the last year.
“We know the flyweights always bring it, so I’m expecting five rounds of intense action on July 12!”
