Back in July 2013, Weidman shocked the world when he spectacularly ended Silva’s reign of dominance in the UFC’s middleweight division. At the time, “The Spider” was the pound-for-pound best in the world, and considered by many to be the greatest fighter of all time. But Weidman, who entered the bout with an undefeated record, ignored Silva’s in-fight taunts and knocked out the Brazilian at UFC 162 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
A rematch was quickly booked for UFC 168 the following December, where Weidman won by stoppage again, but this time, the finish was far more gruesome as he checked a Silva leg kick, which snapped the Brazilian’s leg in the process. It was one of the most sickening injuries seen inside the Octagon, and the scenes of Silva crying out in agony will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons.
Both Silva and Weidman have since retired from MMA, but have signed to face off for a third time in a 205-pound boxing bout on the undercard of the upcoming Jake Paul vs Tank Davis event, which streams live on Netflix on Friday, November 14.

Weidman, meanwhile, said he’ll make his personal record against Silva 3-0 with a victory in their third fight.

“I’m the original ‘Spider’ Killer!”
