The 22-year-old dispatched Elmehdi El Jamari by unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 32 this past Saturday at Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium. In doing so, he punched his ticket to a future shot at two-sport ONE world champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai.
The win was huge for Aliff, but he sees it as only a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal.
“For that Prajanchai fight, when it happens, I hope to do my best,” he said post-fight.
“I want to get the belt and become the first ONE world champion from Malaysia.”
Given Prajanchai’s legendary status, having beaten many of the best strikers in the world and earned both the ONE strawweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world titles, oddsmakers aren’t too confident about Aliff dethroning the Thai great.
But the Sor Dechapan affiliate pays no attention to the naysayers. He takes no stock in any of their opinions and prefers to answer any questions with his in-ring performances.
“I don’t need to speak,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’ll let my actions do the talking.”
Prajanchai was in attendance at ONE Fight Night 32 last weekend to watch the next challenger to his strawweight Muay Thai reign emerge.
He was impressed by Aliff’s output against El Jamari and made it clear that he is looking forward to their clash, whenever it may happen.
“First of all, I want to say congratulations to Aliff, and I’m sending support to El Jamari,” Prajanchai said.
“If one day this match does happen, it will be my honor.”
