Alex Lohore has made a huge impact in BRAVE Combat Federation since his arrival in the promotion, and back-to-back finishes have put him right in the middle of the title conversation in the promotion’s 175-pound division.
But, on Saturday in Tenerife, the title will be contested by two other top fighters in the division, as undefeated champion Kamal Magomedov puts his title on the line against Brazilian veteran Luiz Cado.
It’s a bout that looks set to give Magomedov a stern test of his championship credentials, and writing on his blog, AlexLohore.com, Lohore admitted that, if pressed, he’d lean towards the more experienced man to get the victory and become the new king at 175 pounds.
“I have a feeling that the Brazilian’s experience might be what makes the difference,” he wrote.
“Kamal is good, but I don’t think he has the same level of experience Cado has got, so I might lean towards the Brazilian to give Kamal his first loss, due to the experience advantage.
“Cado looks really, really keen for the fight, and very excited for the challenge, so if I have to pick, I’ll go with Cado to give Kamal his first career loss.”
Lohore has championship aspirations of his own, and will be watching closely as Magomedov and Cado face off in the main event of BRAVE CF 89. One area Lohore said he’s particularly interested to see is how the grappling exchanges play out on the mat, with Magomedov’s sambo-based skillset going up against Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace, with the pair sharing 11 career submissions between them.

“I’ve seen Kamal a little bit and checked out his style. He’s very aggressive, and a grappler-wrestler type of fighter, with good striking,” said Lohore.
“But Cado is well-rounded as well. He’s got very good jiu-jitsu, so it’ll be nice to watch the wrestling exchanges and see what happens when the fight goes to the floor. If Kamal makes a small mistake, I think Cado may have the skills to capitalise on it.”
Whoever wins in Tenerife, Lohore said he wants to fight the victor, with the London-based Frenchman eyeing a title shot early in 2025.
“Of course, I’m ready to fight the winner. I want to be the next one for the title after this fight,” he stated.
“But I also want to fight before the end of this year, so I don’t think my next fight will necessarily be a title fight. It might have to be another contender fight first.”
