GLORY kickboxing has served up a quartet of events so far in 2024, with three of them delivering a plethora of knockouts as kickboxing’s premier organisation served up a feast of finishes in the first six months of the year.
The organisation kicked off 2024 with the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix on March 9, as Rico Verhoeven claimed the Grand Prix title with a knockout of Levi Rigters in the tournament final.
For his part, Rigters had scored a big KO of Uku Jurjendal in the quarter-finals of the tournament, and that finish kicked off GLORY’s half-year highlight reel, before the attention switched to Verhoeven’s second-round bludgeoning of Rigters in the final.
The focus then moved to Paris, France for GLORY 91, as Dutch welterweight Chico Kwasi finished champion Endy Semeleer via the three-knockdown rule to claim a TKO finish and capture the GLORY welterweight title.
Before that finish, there were also notable finishes for French featherweight Bobo Sacko, who knocked out Spain’s David Mejia, and Bahram Rajabzadeh, who KO’d Kevin Oumar in the third round of their light heavyweight co-main event bout.
GLORY 92 in Rotterdam produced a rare night of fights that produced no knockout finishes, with the only TKO stoppage coming due to injury.
But the KOs returned at the GLORY Light Heavyweight Grand Prix at the Rotterdam Ahoy in June, with six of the seven tournament bouts producing finishes.
The three highlight stoppages came via Bahram Rajabzadeh, who stopped Ibrahim El Bouni, and tournament champion Donegi Abena, who finished Rajabzadeh in the final. The other KO came in the non-tournament co-main event, as Ionut Iancu stopped Murat Aygun via second-round knockout.
