Twenty-three-year-old Liddard came in as the younger, less-experienced fighter against Conway, who had a much deeper record, including fights on the world stage.

But on a great showcase of British boxing in London, it was Liddard whose star shone brightest as he delivered the best performance of his career to date to stop Conway – who appeared to sustain injuries to his hand and shoulder – in the 10th round and claim the titles.
“No one sees what I sacrifice for this. My family get to see it – the majority of it, anyway. But no one sees behind closed doors what I put my mind through to get to here now. It just means so much, man, I feel like I could cry.”

The co-main event saw Shannon Ryan improve her record to 10-1 with a technical unanimous decision victory over Chloe Watson.
An accidental clash of heads caused a swelling to appear on Watson’s right eye, and by the end of the fourth round, the eye had closed up completely, leaving her unable to continue. It meant the fight went to the scorecards, with Ryan taking the win having claimed all four of the rounds on all three scorecards.
The night also saw rising star Jimmy Sains claim an impressive fourth-round stoppage of Troy Coleman to improve his record to 11-0 and capture the English middleweight title in the process.
