Makhmudov took on Allen in the main event of the Matchroom Boxing card at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield and, despite two point deductions for repeated holding, outworked Allen over the 12-round distance to earn a clear decision victory on all three scorecards, with the judges scoring the fight 115-111, 116-110, 117-109.

Makhmudov used his height and reach advantages smartly, as he consistently beat Allen to the punch and built up a considerable lead on the scorecards. But, as the fight wore on, Allen loaded up and appeared to hurt the big Russian with some huge overhands and powerful body shots.
Unfortunately for Allen, he wasn’t able to take advantage of those successes as Makhmudov remained one punch ahead of the Doncaster native throughout the contest.
It gave Makhmudov the 21st win of his career, with the Montreal-based heavyweight using his post-fight interview to set his sights on former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
“Yes! Hey, Anthony Joshua! I come for you, guy! I come for you, brother. I come for you,” he said.

“Because we spoke already on Instagram (and he) gave me his word that he’s gonna fight with me next year. I’m ready, brother.
“I just fought with a great UK fighter, Dave Allen… Anthony Joshua, let me know when, brother. I’m ready.”
Also on the card, Bilal Fawaz defeated Junaid Bostan in their eagerly-anticipated rematch for the English Super Welterweight Title, while Josh Padley took the unanimous decision victory over Reece Bellotti in aWBA International Super Featherweight Title bout where the scorecards didn’t accurately reflect the action that unfolded over their 10-round battle.
Bellotti appeared to be on top heading into the last few rounds, only for Padley to come storming back. It meant that, as the fighters awaited the reading of the scorecards, the result seemed to be sitting on a knife-edge, with some experts, including former world champion Carl Frampton, scoring the bout as a draw.

But when the scorecards came, they gave Padley the victory by a wide margin, leading to Bellotti later branding the scoring as “f*****g outrageous”.
Also on the main card, Hamza Uddin stopped Paul Roberts in the fifth round in their English Flyweight Title matchup.
