Bustamante, a big fan favourite in influencer boxing, showed snappy hand speed and decent punch power early as he cracked Ferguson with some big shots early. But as the fight wore on, Ferguson started to wear down his younger opponent.
“El Cucuy” applied constant forward pressure on “Salt Papi”, walking him down and landing shots to the head and body, without overloading his punches. That approach meant Ferguson was able to maintain his pressure through Rounds 2 and 3. And, as that pressure started to take its toll on Bustamante, Ferguson saw his moment.
With “Salt Papi” trapped against the ropes, Ferguson unloaded a rapid-fire multi-punch combination that threatened to overwhelm Bustamante. While “Salt Papi” looked like he was still defending himself, the referee decided he had seen enough and stepped in to wave off the fight.

It was a slightly premature stoppage to a fight that had turned decisively in Ferguson’s favour, and the American’s celebrations after the win showed just how much the victory meant to him.
After the official announcement, Ferguson was then greeted by Dillon Danis, who had captured the inaugural Misfits light heavyweight (180-pound) MMA title with a 15-seconds submission of outmatched influencer Warren Spencer. It seems a matchup between Danis and Ferguson for the MMA belt may well be next.
