PFL Champions Series / PFL Africa 1 official weigh-in results

The PFL SmartCage lands in Cape Town for the inaugural season of PFL Africa, plus the latest PFL Champions Series event, as a packed card gets set for action in South Africa.

The main event of the PFL Champions Series card will see reigning PFL middleweight champion Johnny Eblen puts the title on the line against the Netherlands’ Costello van Steenis, and both men had no issues making weight, with Eblen hitting championship weight at 185 pounds, while van Steenis arrived at a trim 184.6 pounds.

The co-headliner will see the return to action of the PFL’s biggest women’s superstar, Dakota Ditcheva. The English starlet is unbeaten at 14-0, and will look to make it 15 when she takes on Bellator veteran Sumiko Inaba in a flyweight showcase matchup. Ditcheva arrived on the scale at 125.4 pounds, while Inaba came in at 124.6.

The card will also feature the return of former Bellator featherweight champion AJ McKee, who faces 11-1 Russian Akhmed Magomedov. McKee hit the non-title featherweight limit of 146 pounds, while Magomedov came in at 145.4.

Only one of the 28 fighters set for action in Cape Town failed to hit their contracted weight, with Shannon van Tonder coming in at 136.2 pounds, 0.2 pounds over the bantamweight limit, for his PFL Africa quarter-final matchup against Boule Godogo. The bout will proceed as planned, but van Tonder will forfeit 20 percent of his fight purse to his opponent.
