Talking to Jackpot City Casino, the New Zealander, who captured the full WBO title back in 2016 with victory over Andy Ruiz, said that he’s shared sparring rounds with Jones in the past, and said that the recently-retired UFC star has what it takes to be a success in the boxing ring if he opted to switch sports in his post-UFC career.
“Jon Jones can definitely return to the boxing ring if he wants to,” he suggested.
“I did a bit of sparring with him, and he’s got good reach, good height, and he’s got very good coordination.
“His boxing wasn’t too bad at all, and in his last fight he caught Stipe with a lot of jabs and a lot of right hands, so he can make the move if he wants to. He can make some noise in boxing.”
Parker also revealed that he’d shared some pointers with Jones during their sessions together, and said that he’d love to see Jones make the switch.
“I was able to give him a bit of advice on what I thought he should be working on, and it got to the point where we’re throwing some hard shots,” he said.
“We were throwing hard shots and exchanging. It was good fun.
“I would like to see Jon in the boxing ring. He wants whatever he wants being a legend like that and having a massive following, I think he can do whatever he wants.”
Parker also said he has the perfect opponent for Jones should he decide to make the switch, with the Kiwi heavyweight saying that a bout between Jones and Jake Paul would be a huge event.
“Jake Paul’s got a massive following. Jon Jones got a massive following. That’ll be a big fight.”
