Mateusz Gamrot didn’t realise it at the time, but he ended up claiming a main event victory for his UFC resume as he outpointed Ludovit Klein at UFC Vegas 107.
The two lightweight contenders were booked to compete in the night’s co-main event at the UFC APEX, and their fight was announced as such in the Octagon before the pair did battle in their three-round matchup.
Gamrot’s wrestling proved too good over the three rounds as he landed six takedowns on Klein in a dominant performance that earned him a unanimous decision verdict from the three Octagonside judges.
It was only later that it transpired that Gamrot’s win over Klein would be the final bout of the day, with Maycee Barber suffering a seizure backstage before her main event bout with Erin Blanchfield. The bout was immediately pulled from the card and the event came to an anticlimactic end.
Earlier in the night, there was a first-round submission victory for Ramiz Brahimaj, who choked out Billy Ray Goff, while Dustin Jacoby needed less than two minutes and 17 strikes to knock out Bruno Lopes in their light heavyweight matchup.
The main card also saw decision victories for Ketlen Vieira and Zachary Reese, who defeated Macy Chiasson and Dusko Todorovic, respectively.
The star of the preliminary card was undoubtedly the returning Jordan Leavitt, who snatched up an anaconda choke to finish Kurt Holobaugh 99 seconds into their lightweight contest.
Leavitt was making his first Octagon appearance since his November 2023 loss to Chase Hooper, and said that his victory marked the start of a new chapter in his career.
“I think I’m a fighter!” he told Daniel Cormier after his win.
