“Jojo” returns to action against Diego Paez at ONE Fight Night 32: Rodrigues vs. Cohen on Saturday, 7th June, inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium, and he’ll be hoping to showcase what he has learned at the famous gym.
Ahead of his upcoming fight, Ghazali has enlisted the help of reigning ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon, who he says has complimented his firepower but reminded him that it takes more than strength to win.
“Superbon has been training me daily; he’s been holding pads for me. This is actually pretty shocking, so he’s been holding pads for me daily. I think he really wants me to win,” he beamed.
“So my hands have power. But Superbon tells me, ‘You have power, everybody knows. But you’ve got to touch up everything else.’”
Ghazali was originally a product of Rentap Muay Thai Gym in Malaysia. The renowned team shaped him in his formative years, allowing the 18-year-old to reach ONE Championship and become the star he is today.
But after a couple of setbacks in the world’s largest martial arts organisation, “Jojo” realised he needed to be on Thai soil to soar to the summit of his sport.
By joining Superbon Training Camp, he is now fully embedded in the culture of Muay Thai. And, under the watchful eye of the legendary strikers and coaches around him, he is fully committed to fulfilling his potential.
“I feel like I learn so much in one sparring session with Superbon, and Trainer Gae, he pushes me hard,” Ghazali said.
“Every day I can’t breathe, I’m so tired, but I’m not complaining. This is what I came here for. I’m learning fast, I’m improving, I’m progressing. Watch out.”
