The quarter-final matchups in OKTAGON MMA’s middleweight Tipsport Gamechanger tournament are now official after the fighters officially selected the brackets for the next round at the live draw in Karlovy Vary.
The fighters first drew cards to determine the order, then placed themselves in the brackets for their respective bouts, as a quartet of fascinating matchups were locked in for later this year.
The current middleweight champion Kerim Engizek had the luxury of going first and, with the fighter absent from the draw, his manager placed him in the bracket. And he didn’t have to wait long to find out who Engizek would be facing in the quarter-finals, as England’s former Cage Warriors middleweight champion Stanton wasted no time in picking the champion as his next opponent.
The winner of that bout will take on the winner of the first bout on the bracket, as OKTAGON 70’s big main event winner Dominik Humberger was matched with South African contender Mark Hulme.
In the other half of the draw, Matej Penaz decided not to take the open matchup with Poland’s Krzysztof Jotko as he placed himself in the other bracket. Many believed he was hoping for a matchup with Vlasto Cepo, but Polish contender Piotr Wawrzyniak had the chance to choose next, and opted to face Penaz, rather than his own countryman Jotko, leaving the final matchup on the bracket between Jotko and Vlasto Cepo.
With the brackets now set, OKTAGON MMA officials will announce the dates and locations of each of those matchups in due course.
