“Lethal” will return to the world’s largest martial arts organization to try and exact revenge on Nauzet Trujillo in a lightweight Muay Thai rematch at ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II on Saturday, 3rd May, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium, and he credits Sityodtong for helping make the decision.
Nolan lost out to Trujillo in their first matchup in February 2024, leading him to announce his retirement at just 26 years old.
That news shocked many, including the ONE Championship boss. But after a lengthy conversation with the lifelong martial artist, Nolan realized there may be more for him to offer.
“After he [Sityodtong] saw my Instagram post, he texted me for a chat. We had a phone call for over an hour the next day. He said some really positive things to me about coming back. He told me how he sees me in the company,” he revealed.
“I was buzzing after the call. I was walking up and down my flat, shouting and raring to go. I was fired up. It was great, and I’ve been taking it through the last few weeks of this training camp.
“Had Chatri not reached out to me and given me that phone call, I probably wouldn’t be back fighting, so a big shoutout to him.”
Overall, Nolan’s choice to return to action comes down to one thing – he loves to fight. It’s his bread and butter, after all.
That said, when it comes to a path beyond his rematch with Trujillo at ONE Fight Night 31, the 27-year-old has very few plans. He admits there’s a lot on his plate at the moment, so he’s just excited to lace up the gloves again.
“It’s for the love of it. I’m trying to enjoy it. There’s a lot of changes with coaches and routines and trying to get my own house and stuff,” Nolan said.
“I’m going through a lot of transitions, but I’m happy to be back, and I’m enjoying the flow.”
