It was announced that the UFC would be bringing its latest Noche UFC event to Guadalajara, Mexico, on Saturday, September 13, and as Mexico’s first-ever UFC champion, Moreno is determined to be a part of that card.
On Saturday night, Moreno delivered a statement performance in the main event at Arena CDMX in Mexico City to comfortably defeat Erceg over the five-round distance, with all three judges scoring the bout 49-46 to the Mexican.
And, after his victory, an emotional Moreno thanked the packed Mexico City crowd for packing the arena and cheering him on to victory.
“Man, I’ve gone through so much to be here. So much dedication and so much effort,” he said.
“I know how hard it is for so many of you to get a ticket to be here. Thank you so much. This is all for you!”
He then turned his attention to the newly-announced return to his homeland, as he addressed the UFC’s chief business officer, Hunter Campbell, as he called on the UFC to give him the responsibility of headlining the event.
“Hunter, man! Who really knows what I deserve? But I really believe I can move the needle and bring that pay-per-view to Guadalajara. Let’s go! Let’s do it!”
