One day before International Women’s Day, the two British world champions made history in the first female main event ever held inside the historic Royal Albert Hall in London.
And, in a dominant performance, Price claimed a landslide unanimous decision victory over Jonas, as she consistently beat her to the punch and connected with combinations throughout their 10 two-minute-round duration.
Price’s dominance was reflected in the judges’ scorecards as she took the victory with scores of 98-93, 100-90, 98-92 and unified the IBF, WBC, WBA, IBO and Ring Magazine titles.
And, with Mikaela Mayer taking on Sandy Ryan 2 on March 30 for the one welterweight title she doesn’t currently hold, the WBO welterweight title, there was only one fight on Price’s mind – a bout against the winner to claim the undisputed welterweight crown.
“One hundred percent,” she told Sky Sports after her victory.
“I want to go back to Wales (and) box back in Cardiff, and I’d love the winner of that (fight) this year.
“Natasha is one of the best in the division, and I honestly believe I can become undisputed.
“I want to go on and create a great and lasting legacy. I want to follow in the footsteps of your Katie Taylors.
“I CAN become undisputed!” 🙌

“I’m Welsh, I’m Olympic champion, I’ve got a nation behind me, and you know, tonight obviously, the start was with McCaskill and now Jonas. So yeah, the winner of Mayer and Sandy, I want next.”
Jonas was all class in defeat as she paid tribute to Price’s speed, saying her opponent was too quick for her to handle on the night.
“I think one of her phrases was ‘too fast,’ and she just beat me to the punch, every time,” she said.
“I was trying out how to get around it and get shots off, and I was trying to land one big shot instead of putting my combinations together.
“I think I just didn’t work my way around the quick shots. And she does pack a little bit of power, as well, which I didn’t expect.
“But yeah, I was landing, but I was only landing single one hard shots, and it’s just not enough when you’re up against a great operator like Lauren.”
Jonas then addressed the topic of retirement, with the 40-year-old hinting that she may soon make the decision to call time on her decorated boxing career.
“I think emotions are running high right now, and Joe (Gallagher, her coach) has been asking me to retire for a very long time,” she said, before telling interviewer Andy Scott that her future may see her take on more commentary duties with the Sky Sports Boxing team.

“And I actually enjoy sitting next to you, Andy, and Anna (Woolhouse) and Johnny (Nelson), and commentating on everyone else’s performance. So maybe we’ll look at that afterwards.
“But right now I’m going to go home and spend some time with my daughter, and enjoy what is left.”
