The Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle will play host to a packed crowd, as the Czech-Slovak MMA promotion looks to crown its next heavyweight champion.
The title was recently vacated when the promotion cut ties with former champion Hatef Moeil after “The Boss” started a press conference fracas the day before his planned title rematch with Lazar Todev at OKTAGON 64 in Munich last December.
When Moeil was told that he would be sanctioned for his conduct following his title defence, the German heavyweight informed the promotion on the morning of the event that he would not be competing.
That led to OKTAGON cutting Moeil, with the heavyweight title left vacant as a result.
On Saturday night, that vacant belt will be up for grabs as Todev takes on OKTAGON light heavyweight champion Will Fleury in the main event.
Todev tipped the scale at 109.3kg (241 pounds), while Fleury came in at 107.9 (237.9 pounds).
The co-main event features a battle between 29-fight veteran Alan Omer and Poland’s Lukasz Kopera, who will face off in a 74kg catchweight contest. Both men had no problem coming in under the limit, with Omer weighing in at 73.8kg to Kopera’s 73.9.
The rest of the fight card all made weight successfully, including former UFC veterans Makhmud Muradov, Jessin Ayari and Andreas Stahl, who are all set for action on the main card.
The featured preliminary card bout will see the return to the promotion for Irish lightweight Denis Frimpong, who takes on Robin Frank, while the second fight on the preliminary card will feature the professional debut of Germany’s Alina Dalaslan.
Dalaslan captured the 2024 IMMAF women’s featherweight title at the IMMAF amateur world championships in December, and the Stuttgart native will look to get her pro career off to a winning start on home soil when she faces six-fight Czech veteran Kamila Simkova in a women’s bantamweight matchup.
The only fighter to miss weight was Kevin Enz, who came in at 73.9kg for his 73kg catchweight bout with Benny Bajrami. That matchup is expected to continue as planned, with the fight set to kick off the event on Saturday night.
