Jonas heads into the bout as the reigning IBF and WBC welterweight champion with a 16-2 record.
She hasn’t lost since a 2021 decision defeat to Katie Taylor, and has won seven straight since then. Now 40 years of age, Jonas is looking to add the WBA title to her resume.
That belt is currently held by Price. She’s 10 years Jonas’s junior, and turned pro in 2022 after capturing Olympic gold in the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
Since then Price has reeled off eight straight wins, and captured the WBA, IBO and The Ring women’s welterweight titles with victory over Jessica McCaskill in Cardiff last May. She then successfully defended her titles with a third-round TKO of Bexcy Mateus in Liverpool in December.
Now the two champions, from different generations, will go head to head in a bid to unify the division.
One woman who will be watching the action from afar is multi-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist Claressa Shields, who chatted to Seconds Out to give her initial take on the matchup.
“Happy to see the fight between Lauren Price and Natasha Jonas,” she said.
“I think Natasha is kinda going out the door. She’s having her last boxing match or two, and wants to retire.
“From what I’ve seen in Lauren Price I feel like she’s kinda young in the game a little bit. But they’re fast-tracking her because she has an Olympic gold medal.
“I look forward to seeing how they go against each other,” she said.
“But I think that Natasha has too much experience for Lauren even though I think Lauren may be a little bit big
