Pound-for-pound great and two-division ONE world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 will return to action to defend his bantamweight Muay Thai crown against top-ranked contender Nico Carrillo at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Superlek is in the form of his life. He is currently riding an 11-fight winning streak and has taken out some of the most notable names in both kickboxing and Muay Thai over that time.
The Thai superstar dismissed Daniel Puertas at ONE Fight Night 6 in January 2023 to claim the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title, and he added the likes of Algerian phenom Nabil Anane, ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang, and Japanese stirking sensation Takeru Segawa over the next 12 months.
His run of a lifetime earned him his biggest opportunity yet this past September at ONE 168: Denver. That evening, Superlek challenged then-ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty for the coveted strap, and he came out on top via a ruthless first-round knockout win.
Clearly, it will take a lot to end the two-sport, two-division king’s run of spectacular form. But Carrillo may be the one to do it.
The Scottish terror has only been in ONE since April 2023, but he’s risen up the ranks at a blistering pace in that time, amassing a perfect 4-0 streak with four finishes.
And his list of wins is a who’s-who of Thai talent. Former ONE world title challenger Saemapetch Fairtex, former long-time bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Hama, and striking veteran Muangthai PK Saenchai have all fallen victim to his dominant skills.
So there’s little doubt that he knows what to do when it comes to fighters from the home of the “art of eight limbs.”
Two runaway trains will collide head-on ONE 170 early next year, and it’s very unlikely their bout will go all five rounds.
Also announced for the thrilling card is the main event, which will see ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai defending his gold against ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon.
