According to 145lb. category champion, the flyweight class won’t be coming to a close unless he proves his dominance on its canvas. The Killashaw stated that he had bagged huge amount of money from the promotion to bring the weight class back to life.
While recently talking to Ariel Helwani’s show, Dillashaw said,
“UFC wants to get rid of the division and they hired me to go down and close it and get another belt in the process. It’s a win-win for me, man. They are paying me a fuck load of money to kill the 125 division and collect a second belt. It’s game time.”
While Cejudo is working on himself so that he can submit bantamweight champion on fight night in Anaheim, the Viper thinks that the American Messenger wouldn’t be able to stand his ground against his fury. Rather, Dillashaw thinks that the 31-year-old should bring along Olympic gold medal and hand it over to Dillashaw after being submitted by him.
According to the Viper,
“I just want to continue to grow my legacy, as I believe I’m the best fighter on earth right now. By doing what I am doing right now I am going to be able to prove it. TO be able to have a belt in both weight classes.”
He went on to add,
Of course I am disappointed I didn’t get to fight Demetrious Johnson but now I get to beat a gold medalist. I am going to beat him at his own game, too. I will go out there and I will wrestle him. So he should bring that gold medal to the Octagon so I can take his belt and his gold medal.”
Right now, TJ Dillashaw is spewing some bold statements. Only time can tell how much of this claims would turn into reality.
If Cejudo fails to seal a victory against overly-confident Dillashaw and a rematch is not materialized, then it would be time for American fighter to look for greener pastures. A move to ONE Championship would do some justice to the aspiring flyweight champion. This may be a smart move to get his talent recognized, since ONE Championship is alright about paying a huge amount of money to acquire the best talent unlike its counterpart UFC, which is ready to give up a fortune to get rid of its finest artists.
